Anyone using AI tools at work.
If you already use ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini or a similar tool for drafting, summarising or research, or your organisation is about to let you, this course is the hour that makes that use defensible. It is written for professionals, not engineers.
Why free? It's how we show our standard of work. If the free course isn't excellent, don't buy a paid one. That is the deal.
Use AI without becoming the case study.
- Identify the four main risk classes of workplace generative AI use
- Apply a check-before-use routine to any AI tool
- State what may never be entered into public AI tools
- Locate and apply the AI policy relevant to your role
- Apply the disclosure test to AI-assisted work
Five short units, 46 minutes of reading.
- What generative AI actually does, and where it fails 10 min
- Confidentiality and data leakage 10 min
- Accuracy, hallucination and the duty to verify 10 min
- Disclosure, attribution and passing-off 8 min
- Your organisation's rules 8 min
Then a 10-question final check: pass at 7 out of 10, as many attempts as you need.
Read the rest of unit 1 →When you ask a colleague for last quarter's revenue figure, they either know it, look it up, or tell you they don't know. When you ask a generative AI tool, it produces the kind of text that usually follows a question like yours. Often that text is correct, because the pattern it learned was built from correct examples. Sometimes it is wrong in ways that look exactly like being right.
One anyone can check.
- Issued when you pass, with a unique ID and a QR code
- Verifiable by anyone at lsaig.org.uk/verify, by ID only, never by name or email
- Emailed to you, so the ID is never lost
- One click adds it to your LinkedIn profile, under Licenses and certifications

Is it really free?
Yes: the full course and its certificate, no card required. We ask for your email so we can send you the certificate ID, which is the only way to find your certificate again. Joining our founding-learner list is a separate tick box, and leaving it unticked costs you nothing.
How long does it take?
45–60 minutes in total: five units of 8 to 10 minutes each, then the final check. It is self-paced, so you can stop after any unit and come back.
Do I need a technical background?
No. The course is about how you use AI tools at work, not how they are built, and it explains what it needs to in plain language.
Is there an assessment?
A short 10-question check with a 70% pass mark and unlimited attempts, lighter than our paid courses, but the certificate still means you finished and understood it.
When can I start?
Now. The full course is open: start unit 1.
